I liked the older one better.
I cannot recommend this power supply because:
1. The electrical power cords are too short. Total plug to plug length is about 7 feet which is barely enough to reach around a hotel room couch and to the sofa table where a computer would sit. When I am in the office the cord is just long enough to reach from the floor electrical box up around the desk top to the laptop. The cord should be much longer.
2. The heavy power supply brick is only approximately 18 inches from the laptop connector. The heavy brick constantly pulls on the laptop connector and the laptop making it difficult to move the laptop or keep the laptop on a polished wood table. They should make the cord longer.
3. The large power supply brick is very flat and wide which doesn't fit in a small pocket in a backpack or case. Also the cord doesn't wrap around the brick... Read more

Make sure you use the compatibility checker on the Kensington site before you buy it for your laptop, though: (Amazon removed the direct link but just google "Kensington laptop charger compatibility")
It works well for a phone + laptop, but note that the charger itself is 90W, or 80W + 10W for USB peripherals. This technically means that you will not be able to charge a laptop + tablet + phone efficiently, as most tablets require 5V /2A which would take up the full 10W in any case. (However, it works just fine if you charge your phone through your laptop...)
Charger is also more compact than I anticipated, which is always a plus. This is my third Kensington multi-laptop adapter and it's performing just as well as my previous ones so far!

Despite the marketing claim that it will charge Blackberry and Playbook - it will not !! No matter what i do the USB ports will not charge either a 9900 or a Playbook. It is not a function of there not being enough amperage output - there is no sign of any charge on either device.
All manner of other devices will charge off the unit but nothing with a Blackberry logo on it. There seems to be something unusual about the BB application of USB.
Kensington product support is unresponsive so beware.
