So now I use it battery-only, when the battery runs out I pop it off the machine and use this to charge it up.
There are excellent instructions included to tell you how to hook it up to the battery (it's fussy -- do it wrong and sayanara battery!)

The power supply would no longer work and the battery could not charge. The power supply/transformer was not the problem and two different computer techs told me that my netbook was too small to be opened up and repaired. Knowing that the thing worked just fine when it had power, I was desperate to find a way to externally charge the battery. Finding this item saved my netbook and saved me from having to pay to replace the entire little computer. It works as described (although I was nervous about plugging everything in!) and I can now work on my netbook for 6 or more hours at a time. I'm grateful for this item!
